The Former Site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Nationalist Government is a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was located at No. 32 (formerly No. 86) Zhongshan North Road and was established in May 1927 (the 16th year of the Republic of China). The ministry compound, bordered by Hubei Road to the east and Yunnan Road to the north, is triangular in shape, covering an area of 45.67 mu (approximately 30,000 square meters). Construction began in March 1933 (the 22nd year of the Republic of China) and was completed the following June. During the Japanese occupation of Nanjing, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs relocated to Chongqing, and the site was occupied by the Japanese invaders’ “China Expeditionary Army General Headquarters.” After the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Ministry returned. It now serves as office space for the Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee. In 1992, it was listed as a Cultural Relics Protection Unit of Nanjing. (In 2001, it was listed as a National Cultural Relics Protection Unit.)
