Nanpu Park of Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge

Nanpu Park was established in 1970 by the Nanjing Urban Construction Bureau and completed on March 24, 1971. The park’s landscaping features a grand central axis with symmetrical arrangements of flower stands and fountains on both sides. Around the park and along the main roads, over 700 cedar and crape myrtle trees have been planted. From Road 3 to the Jinshui River, 1,500 trees such as plane trees, junipers, dragon cypresses, and magnolia trees have been planted. The park’s green coverage exceeds 50%, with 13,580 trees and shrubs, 6,528 meters of hedges, and 25,000 potted plants and flowers.

In 1985, the Bridge Tourism Company was established to provide visitors with food, accommodation, and entertainment services. In 1986, 100,000 yuan was invested to build a 4,000-square-meter roller skating rink. In 1989, a 14,000-square-meter children's playground was added, featuring traditional amusement rides as well as modern electric ones. By the end of 1990, 1,024 floodlights were installed on the bridge’s road surface, adding further brilliance to the park. It is now one of the parks managed by the Nanjing Municipal People’s Government and open to the public free of charge.

You can reach Nanpu Park of the Bridge by taking Bus No. 1, 12, 67, 69, 95, 117, 149, 307, or 809; to reach the South Bridgehead Fort (where you can choose to take stairs or an elevator at 5 yuan per person to get to the park’s memorial hall), take the Yange Night Line, Yanpu Line, Guyang Night Line, Guyang Line, Bus No. 156, 159, 168, or 172.
