Nanjing Normal University

Nanjing Normal University is located in Nanjing, the ancient capital of six dynasties, and is a key university under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province. Its main origin can be traced back to the Sanjiang Normal School founded in 1902, which later went through various stages including the Liangjiang Advanced Normal School, Nanjing Higher Normal School, Southeast University, the Fourth Zhongshan University, Jiangsu University, National Central University, and National Nanjing University; its other origin is the Huiwen Academy founded in 1888, which later developed into the private University of Nanking. In 1951, it merged with the private Ginling College (formerly known as the private Ginling Women's University) to form the public University of Nanking.

Nanjing Normal University is one of the birthplaces of higher normal education in China. Over its more than hundred years of development, renowned educators such as Li Ruiqing, Guo Bingwen, and Chen Heqin have successively served as its leaders, while celebrated figures including educator Tao Xingzhi, Wu Yifang, poetry master Tang Guizhang, human geographer Li Xudan, bryologist Chen Bangjie, psychology historian Gao Juefu, and art masters Xu Beihong, Zhang Daqian, and Fu Baoshi have all taught here.

Nanjing Normal University has three campuses: Xianlin, Suiyuan, and Zijin. The Suiyuan Campus is a national key cultural relics protection unit and is known as “the most beautiful campus in the East.” The university covers a land area of 2,199,575 square meters, with a total building area of 1,064,103 square meters.
