Nanjing Cao Xueqin Memorial Hall
In the center of the memorial hall stands a over two-meter-tall statue of Cao Xueqin. Dressed in a long robe, he sits on a large rock, holding a manuscript in his right hand and gazing thoughtfully into the distance. The hall is not large, and its display windows feature a photo exhibition titled “Cao Xueqin’s Family Background, Dream of the Red Chamber, and Nanjing,” as well as various editions of Dream of the Red Chamber, sequels to the novel, and numerous scholarly works on Redology.
The walls of the memorial hall display many calligraphic and painting works by renowned artists, such as portraits of Cao Xueqin created by famous painters Dai Dunbang and Xin Shudong, three sets of “Twelve Beauties of Jinling” paintings by Zhao Xucheng, president of the Jiangsu Provincial Academy of Chinese Painting, and many couplets and inscriptions by notable figures.
