Wen Qiao (288–329), courtesy name Taizhen (also recorded as Tai Zhen), was a renowned general of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. He was from Qi County, Taiyuan (present-day Qi County, Shanxi), the great-grandson of Wen Hui, a famous minister of the Cao Wei, and the nephew of Wen Xian, Minister over the Masses of the Western Jin. He was a descendant of Wen Xu, the Protector of the Qiang during the Eastern Han. Wen Qiao began his official career at the age of 17, rising from Sima Du Official to Magistrate of Lü County. He later served as an advisor to Liu Kun, eventually becoming Left Chief Clerk of the Ministry of War. In 317, he was sent south by Liu Kun to advocate for the enthronement of Emperor Yuan of Jin, after which he held a series of prominent positions and became a close friend of Emperor Ming of Jin. He served as Prefect of Jiangzhou and participated in suppressing the rebellions of Wang Dun and Su Jun.
