The former site of the Nationalist Government is located at No. 251 Zhongshan Road. Established on November 16, 1928, the Nationalist Government was the highest judicial administrative authority of the Nationalist regime. The Ministry of Judicial Administration was founded on November 12, 1928, responsible for overseeing national judicial administrative affairs. In 1935, the new site was completed, and both the -- and the Ministry of Judicial Administration relocated from Xuejiawan to this location to carry out their duties. Originally, this was a north-south oriented gray building, a three-story Western-style structure made of brick, wood, and concrete. The central main building featured a hemispherical dome with a clock tower, topped with a flagpole, while auxiliary buildings stood on either side. The entire complex comprised 108 rooms, with two symmetrical large gardens in front of the building. The old-style gatehouse, standing prominently in front of the main building’s entrance, faced east and was designed in a classical European architectural style. It had three archways—smaller ones on the sides and a larger central one—adorned with decorative patterns at the top. Eight massive Greek columns lent the gate an air of solemn elegance, dignity, and extraordinary grandeur. On the night of April 23, 1949, the office building caught fire, and most of the structures were burned down. Only the gatehouse retained its original appearance.
