The former site of the Sixth District Office of the Special Municipality of Nanjing is located at No. 39 Jiangsu Road, Gulou District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province. It sits on a circular plaza where five roads intersect: Shanxi Road, Yihe Road, Luojia Road, Ninghai Road, and Jiangsu Road.

The building was constructed before 1937 in a Western modern architectural style. It is a four-story square-shaped structure featuring sleek European-American streamline design. The front facade is flat while the back is semi-circular, with large glass windows. Inside, there is a small inner courtyard, wooden doors and windows, and refined detailing. The entire building is painted in creamy yellow with a textured stucco finish.

After the Japanese occupation of Nanjing, this building was used by the Japanese invading forces—. In the 1950s, it housed the Ancient Books Department of the Nanjing Library and the office of the Nanjing Federation of Literary and Art Circles. In the 1980s, it served as the Gulou District Library of Nanjing.
