Liu Bocheng's Former Residence

Liu Bocheng's Former Residence is located within the compound at No. 178 Zhongshan North Road, Gulou District.

After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War in 1945, the Netherlands built an embassy here, which was never put into use due to certain reasons, and was later used as office space by the Capital Hotel of the Republic of China. The building is a "hidden semi-detached villa" with a construction area of approximately 600 square meters. The courtyard spans about 3 mu and has many trees.

In 1949, after the victory of the Crossing-the-Yangtze Campaign, the advancing troops took over this building. As the first mayor of Nanjing, Liu Bocheng once worked and lived here and planted many trees on the premises. During the nearly seven years he spent working and living in Nanjing, Liu Bocheng trained a large number of military personnel and made significant contributions to improving local livelihoods and promoting the development and construction of Nanjing.
