Former Residence of Huo Shouyi

The former residence of Huo Shouyi is located at No. 64 Ninghai Road, Gulou District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province.

It was built in 1935 by Huang Shiyue, commander of the 17th Brigade of the Northeast Army, and purchased in 1946 by Huo Shouyi, commander of the Northeast Army, when he came to Nanjing for a military conference. It is currently inhabited by Huo Shouyi’s descendants. During the Anti-Japanese War, it was used as a Japanese military clinic. After the liberation, it was returned to the Huo family.

Chang Enduo, courtesy name Huosan, was of Manchu ethnicity. He was born in 1885 into a poor farming family in Xidongsantai Village, Haicheng.

Chang Enduo lost his mother at the age of 5, his father at 9, and began attending primary school at the age of 11 under the care of his uncle. Later, with the financial support of his father-in-law, he entered a normal school. Upon graduating at the age of 19, he worked as a primary school teacher in his home village. In 1919, driven by a desire to save the nation and serve his country, he joined the Fengtian Army.
