Former Residence of Tang Shengzhi

The former residence of Tang Shengzhi is located at No. 21 Guling Road, Gulou District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province.

This building was constructed in 1935 in a modern Western architectural style. It consists of one two-story building with 12 rooms and three sections of single-story houses totaling five rooms. The walls are gray and the roof is blue-gray.

The building was originally registered under the name of Zhang Ju Jing in the name of his wife, Zhang Wangshunying. After its completion, Tang Shengzhi rented it for three years.

Commander-in-Chief of the Fourth Army Group of the National Revolutionary Army, Vice Chairman of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.

Born on October 30, 1890, into an official family during the late Qing Dynasty in Dong’an County, Hunan Province. At the age of 18, he graduated from the first class of the Hunan Army Primary School and then studied at the Wuchang Army Middle School. In 1911, he joined the Chinese Revolutionary Alliance and entered the preparatory corps of the Baoding Military Academy. He participated in the Xinhai Revolution.
