Former Residence of Zhou Zhirou

The former residence of Zhou Zhirou is located at No. 9 Langya Road, Gulou District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province.

The building was constructed in 1935, faces east, and is built with a brick-and-concrete structure. The exterior walls are yellow, the roof is bluish-gray, topped with gray tiles, and the building has two main floors with a false third floor featuring dormer windows, all in a Western-style villa design. The entire complex consists of six buildings with 25 rooms in total.

Zhou Zhirou (October 28, 1899 – August 29, 1986), from Dongcheng, Linhai, Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, was a General of the Chinese Air Force during the Republic of China era. In 1919, he was admitted to the Eighth Class of the Infantry Department at the Baoding Military Academy. In 1933, he visited Europe and the United States to study their aviation industries. Starting in 1934, he served as President of the Jianqiao Central Flying School, Director of the Republic of China Aviation Commission, Commander-in-Chief of the Republic of China Air Force Combat Advance Headquarters, Central Executive Committee Member, and Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force.
