Former Residence of Zou Lu

The former residence of Zou Lu is located at No. 18 Yiheluroad, Gulou District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province.

The building was constructed before 1937 in a Western modern architectural style. It consists of one two-story building with 12 rooms and two rows of single-story houses totaling 4 rooms. The structure is made of brick and concrete, with gray walls and a blue-tiled roof. The property belonged to Zou Lu. Before the liberation, it was used as his private residence; after the liberation, it was occupied by Secretary Ye and later used as accommodation for the East China Military Region Guesthouse.

Zou Lu (1885–1954), originally named Chengsheng, with the courtesy name Haibin and the pseudonym Owner of Chenglu, was from Dabu County, Guangdong Province.

Zou started attending a private school at the age of 8. In the 29th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1903), at the age of 18, he entered the Han Shan Academy in Chaozhou. In the 31st year of Guangxu, he successively joined the Revive China Society and the Tongmenghui. In March of the 34th year of Guangxu, Zou participated in the uprising launched by Zhao Sheng and Zhu Zhixin in Guangzhou. In March of the 3rd year of the Xuantong reign (1911), he took part in the Guangzhou Uprising during the Xinhai Revolution. After the uprising failed, he fled to Hong Kong.
