Lin Wei’s Former Residence

Lin Wei’s Former Residence is located at the Red House, No. 1 Qijiaqiao, Gulou District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province.

The building was constructed around 1936 and is the graduation design of the renowned architect Yang Tingbao. It faces south, has two stories, is built with a brick-and-wood structure, and features a Western architectural style.

Lin Wei (1889–1955), from Huangyan, Zhejiang, after graduating from a local middle school, enrolled in the Engineering Department of the Jiangnan Naval Academy in Nanjing. After graduation, he entered the Fourth Regular Class of the Army War College. Upon graduation, he returned to the Zhejiang Army as commander of the Engineer Battalion, then was promoted to Chief of Staff and later to commander of the Fourth Regiment. In 1926, after being repeatedly recommended by Chen Yi, commander of the First Division of the Zhejiang Army, Lin Wei was appointed Chief of Staff of the First Division of the Zhejiang Army. In February 1927, he was transferred to serve as Chief of Staff of the 27th Army.
