Former Residence of Mao Renfeng

The former residence of Mao Renfeng is located at No. 3 Luojia Road, Gulou District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province.

The building was constructed before 1937 in a Western modern architectural style, consisting of one three-story building with 12 rooms and one single-story structure with 2 rooms. The walls are grey, and the roof is blue-tiled. Originally, the property was purchased under the name Liu Renquan by Liu Shao, who built the house on the land. After the War of Resistance against Japan, when Mao Renfeng returned to Nanjing, he once lived here for a time. In December 1951, the Service Department of Nanjing Real Estate Company purchased the property from Liu. It is now under the administration of the provincial affairs management bureau.

Mao Renfeng (1898 – December 11, 1956), a Lieutenant General of the Chinese National Revolutionary Army and Director of the Bureau of Investigation and Statistics of the Republic of China, also known as Qi Wu, was a native of Jiangshan County, Zhejiang Province. He graduated early from Shanghai Hujiang University and later enrolled in the fourth class of the Whampoa Military Academy. He was an important figure in the Military Statistics Bureau (Juntong) of the Nationalist government of the Republic of China and succeeded Dai Li as director after Dai’s death, leading the bureau. Within the Juntong system, Mao Renfeng, along with Mao Wanli, Mao Sen, and Dai Li, were referred to as the "Three Maos and One Dai." He was also grouped with Li Shiqun, Xu Enzeng, and Dai Li as one of the "Four Great Spies."
