Ma Ling Mountain Scenic Area

Ma Ling Mountain is located in the southern suburbs of Xinyi City, the premier transportation hub on the Eurasian continent. It stretches from Lanshan in Shandong in the north to Suqian in the south. The Jiangsu provincial scenic spot Ma Ling Mountain lies 10 kilometers south of Xinyi’s urban area. Historically known as Siwu Mountain, it is also called Wu Mountain. It consists of five peaks: Fengshan, Doushan, Hushan, Nainai Mountain, and Huanghuacai Ridge, locally referred to as the “Five Sisters Mountains.” Among these, Fengshan’s Wuhuading is the main peak, renowned for its stunning landscape that stands out across the Jianghuai region.

The scenic area is famed for its unique natural landscapes, rich historical and cultural heritage, and diverse flora and fauna. Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty visited Siwu Mountain three times during his six southern tours, composing the verse, “Though Zhongwu may seem no more than a fist-sized rock, it has long embodied a fraction of this land’s inherent beauty,” poetically extolling the exquisite beauty of Ma Ling Mountain.

Covering approximately 60 square kilometers, the planned area of Ma Ling Mountain Scenic Spot is 28.9 square kilometers. The overall layout is divided into three major scenic zones: the central Sanxian Cave Scenic Area, which spans 11.8 square kilometers and features the area’s most essential attractions; the Huangchao Lake Scenic Area, characterized by its natural wilderness and water activities, spanning 11.28 square kilometers; and the Huating Scenic Area, which highlights the rich historical and cultural value of the “Huating Ancient Cultural Site” and offers educational sightseeing experiences, covering 6.82 square kilometers.
