Dugong Lake is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The national AAAA-level Dugong Lake Scenic Area features captivating scenery—peach blossoms in spring, shimmering blue waters in summer, crisp and pleasant autumns, and serene quietude in winter, making it an ideal destination for leisure and vacation. The entire scenic area features over 200,000 square meters of green space. Standing by Dugong Lake, you’ll see green mountains reflected on the water’s surface, seagulls and numerous birds soaring and gathering, especially during the peach blossom season in spring when the water and sky blend into one, and the floral sea resembles a dreamy, fantastical scene.

Development History

Dugong Lake was first built in 1958 as the Chaivo Reservoir. It underwent comprehensive renovation in 2005 to increase its water storage capacity, becoming a model mountainous water source project. The lake features attractions such as the Immortal’s Shoe Bridge, a boat dock, a sandy beach bathing area, and a lotus pond wetland. In the height of summer, visitors can enjoy the breeze on the bridge, play in the water on the beach, watch the gentle ripples, and admire the elegant egrets in flight—a truly delightful experience. The Dugong Lake Scenic Area has been designated as a National Leisure Park, National Scenic Area, Provincial Geological Park, Best Leisure Tourism Area in Beautiful China (Jiangsu), and one of Jiangsu Province’s Top Ten Scenic Photography Bases. The area boasts beautiful mountains and clear waters, with an elegant environment, often referred to as “Shangri-La of Jiangsu.”

Geographic Environment

Dugong Lake is bordered by Nainai Mountain, Hongdumen Mountain, and Yigou Mountain to the north, with thousands of acres of peach orchards scattered between the mountains and the lake—during the blooming season, the petals resemble drifting brocade. To the west lie Dugong Pond Mountain and Rabbit Mountain, the latter still shrouded in mythical allure. To the south, Huangbai Mountain Grass (Xiaoliu Mountain) is covered with various medicinal herbs. The eastern side of the lake features a thousand-meter-long embankment lined with gently swaying willow branches, exuding tender sentiment. In the distance, verdant mountains and vast green fields create a rare gem of a destination for tourism, leisure, and wellness. The scenic area is filled with forests, beaches, peculiar rocks, rock seas, wooden bridges, and plank walkways, with the Immortal’s Shoe Bridge offering visitors a refreshing, natural atmosphere.

Major Attractions

Thrill Paradise

The Dugong Lake Scenic Area (Thrill Paradise) invested nearly 100 million yuan to build an amusement park in the Xuzhou area—top-tier in China—with over 40 types of amusement rides for hands-on experiences. These include thrilling rides like the “Giant Swing,” “Roller Coaster,” and “Pirate Ship”;

traditional entertainment options such as bumper boats and luxury carousel rides; adventure rides like the Terror Castle and maze. There are also family-friendly activities like fishing and handmade painting; sightseeing options including sightseeing vehicles and boat rides; and food offerings featuring both traditional and specialty cuisine.

Dugong Mountain Skiing

Xuzhou Dugong Mountain Ski Resort is located within the national AAAA-level Dugong Lake Scenic Area in Jiawang District, Xuzhou City. Leveraging its unique geographical advantages,

the resort is built against the mountain, covering a snow area of over 80,000 square meters, with beginner, intermediate, and advanced ski runs, as well as motorcycle trails and a children’s snow play zone. It is currently the largest and most fully equipped comprehensive ski resort in the Huaihai region.

Dugong Mountain Rafting

Xuzhou Jiawang Dugong Mountain Rafting is located within the Dugong Lake Scenic Area in Jiawang District, Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province. Blending various rafting characteristics and utilizing the picturesque Dugong Lake and the mountain river channels of Dugong Mountain, it was designed and constructed by top domestic river course experts. It is the first rafting site in the Huaihai Economic Zone and is known as the “No. 1 High Mountain Rafting.”

Jiawang Dugong Mountain Rafting is the first rafting destination in the Huaihai Economic Zone. Visitors can experience the thrill and joy of rafting in all its aspects. The rafting course is 4 kilometers long and divided into three sections—A, B, and C—each offering exciting and stimulating experiences to cater to different preferences.

Section A winds down from the forested upper part of Dugong Mountain with a drop of 29 meters, featuring twists and turns that deliver intense thrills; Section B runs through a natural river valley scattered with peculiar rocks, where rapids and water fight zones allow visitors to splash and enjoy the fun; Section C glides through lush forests, greenery, and tranquil lakes, offering a soothing and serene experience.

Xuzhou Jiawang Dugong Mountain Rafting is characterized by thrills, risks, and wonders: Thrills come from the high drops, as visitors speed down the river in inflatable rafts like roller coasters riding wave crests and troughs, with screams echoing through the valley, bringing boundless vitality to the serene mountains. Risks arise from the unpredictable dangers and dramatic ups and downs along the way, thrilling the heart.

Wonders stem from the river being located in a valley, with water sourced from Dugong Lake and mountain springs, resulting in crystal-clear quality. The riverbanks are dotted with uniquely shaped rocks, naturally formed and seamlessly integrated into the landscape.

Xuzhou Jiawang Lavender Manor is the only estate in the Huaihai region dedicated to lavender cultivation. Spanning hundreds of acres of romantic flower fields planted with various global herbs, the manor features extensive plantings of perennial lavender and verbena, as well as seasonal roses.

Other blooms include colorful sunflower gardens, cockscomb flowers, February orchids, various chrysanthemums, totaling 300 varieties of herbs. Landscape features include loofah and gourd pergolas, rose gardens, herb gardens, windmills, cradles, pianos, love boats, ponds, reed marshes, and unique accommodations.

Xuzhou Dugong Lake Aviation Theme Park is the first aviation-themed park in the Xuzhou area, approved by the Jiawang District Government of Xuzhou.

The flight base covers approximately 320 acres, situated by Dugong Lake. It includes aviation activities such as paragliding, tandem paragliding, hot air ballooning, powered parachutes, and powered hang gliders, along with related training, exams, and the hosting of competitions.

Soaring Knight Culture Village embodies the feeling of freedom and flight while riding a galloping horse,

like an eagle soaring in the sky. Knights are gentlemen on horseback. Culture refers to four of the six arts of Confucianism—riding, archery, charioteering, and music. The village is a gathering place for various outdoor sports. Located on the northern shore of Dugong Lake in Jiawang, Xuzhou, Jiangsu, the village enjoys rich nearby tourism resources, beautiful landscapes, and convenient transportation—just a one-hour drive from downtown Xuzhou. Activities include horseback riding, camel riding, carriage rides, dune buggies, go-karts, archery, large projection KTV, farm-style dining, bonfire parties, and fruit and vegetable picking.

Horse riding is divided into enclosed arena rides and open-field rides. The surrounding area features low mountain hills with lush vegetation, offering stunning scenery for trail rides. Camels—the “ships of the desert”—have been introduced for sightseeing rides. Carriages include sightseeing and sport models. Off-road dune buggy and go-kart driving projects are available in the mountainous areas, with occasional competitions. Archery includes traditional bow shooting at fixed and three-target setups. The KTV features a large projector in the guest center with premium sound systems, suitable for large group events. Farm-style dining highlights rustic countryside dishes, along with specialties like whole roasted lamb and game meat.

Dugong Mountain Zipline

The zip line project is located in the northern part of the Dugong Lake Scenic Area, a national 4A-level tourist attraction. Stretching 1,300 meters in total with four bidirectional zip lines, the first half winds through mountainous terrain while the latter half speeds across the surface of Dugong Lake. The entire experience is thrilling and has been dubbed the best zip line in Asia.
