Dadong Mountain Scenic Area

Dadong Mountain Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Dadong Mountain is located southeast of Jiawang District, with its main peak rising 361 meters above sea level, making it the highest peak in Xuzhou City. The area around the main peak features nearly a hundred large and small hills, commonly known as the 99 Lotus Mountains, among which 12 peaks exceed 200 meters in elevation. There are also more than ten lakes of varying sizes, covering over 2,000 acres, with the total area spanning nearly 60 square kilometers.

Among them, the 10,000-mu pomegranate orchard has a history of pomegranate cultivation for over 300 years. The varieties are abundant and of high quality, with contiguous plantings covering more than 5,000 acres and over 20 types of premium pomegranate cultivars. The favorable geographical environment, suitable soil and climate, and exquisite cultivation techniques result in pomegranates that are large, plump, brightly colored, and sweet in taste.

Shengshui Lake is located at the southern foot of Dadong Mountain. With a surface area of over ten acres, the lake is formed by the convergence of Longquan (Sacred Water Spring) and Huquan. Longquan is situated to the front left of the ancient Zhuyu Temple, gushing forcefully but briefly, while Huquan lies to the rear right of the temple, flowing gently yet continuously. It has now become a scenic spot for sightseeing and cooling off.

Zhuyu Temple is situated at the southern foot of Dadong Mountain. The Zhuyu Temple Scenic Area is surrounded by mountains on three sides, with serene valleys. Springs on both sides flow continuously, making it a truly auspicious site for Buddhism and a blessed land. Along the central axis, there are, in sequence, a plaza, mountain gate, Hall of Heavenly Kings, Mahavira Hall, and Hall of the Medicine Buddha. On both sides, there are six side halls dedicated to Guanyin, Ksitigarbha, Samantabhadra, Manjushri, and other deities, as well as the abbot’s quarters, monks’ dormitories, dining hall, exhibition hall, and more.

Zhuyu Garden is located behind Zhuyu Temple, covering an area of over 10 acres. In Zhuyu Garden, you can admire yellow flowers in spring, green leaves in summer, red fruits in autumn, and white snow in winter. The garden is filled with vibrant flowers and luscious fruits, offering breathtaking scenery. The entire garden landscape follows stone pathways as veins, winding through secluded valleys and leading all the way to the mountaintop. It changes with the terrain, allowing visitors to enjoy scenic views along the way.

The hiking trail leads directly from Zhuyu Garden to the mountaintop. A leisure platform is built within Zhuyu Garden, after which the hiking path is set up. Following the terrain, local materials—mainly bluestone—are used for construction. At the summit, there are Zhuyu Pavilion and Chongyang Pavilion, providing visitors with spots for sightseeing and distant views. The vantage points offer wide, open vistas, allowing the entire Dadong Mountain Scenic Area to be taken in at a glance.

Self-driving route: After exiting the Xuzhou–Jiawang Expressway, go straight ahead, then take National Highway G310. The drive takes about 5 minutes to reach Dadong Mountain Scenic Area.

Discount policy: Children under 1.4 meters, seniors over 70, and holders of disability certificates, non-commissioned officer certificates, conversion certificates, lay Buddhist certificates, and teacher certificates are admitted free of charge; youths aged 6–18 and seniors aged 60–69 receive a 50% discount.
