Longju City Ruins

The Longju City Ruins are a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Jiangsu Province.

The Longju City Ruins are located in Gucheng Village, Longju Town, Guanyun County, Lianyungang City. According to the Longqing Haizhou Annals, “The ancient Longju fort lies 60 li southwest of Haizhou, consisting of two fortifications — one large and one small. When Han Xin conquered Qi, Xiang Yu dispatched Longju to build a fortress here, which later became known as Longju.” The site covers an area of approximately 26.7 hectares, with the base of the main structures covering about 14.4 hectares, standing about 6 meters above the ground, square in shape, with each side measuring 120 meters, and the surrounding city walls still clearly visible.

The Longju Ancient City Ruins hold significant value for the study of the politics, economy, military affairs, and culture of the Lianyungang region during the Han, Wei, and Six Dynasties periods. In 2010, it was designated as part of the fourth batch of cultural heritage sites protected at the municipal level in Lianyungang. In 2011, it was listed as part of the seventh batch of cultural heritage sites protected at the provincial level in Jiangsu.

Protected Area:

With the base of the surrounding city walls (which resemble embankments) as the zero point, the protected zone extends 15 meters outward.
