Moon Lake Scenic Area

Moon Lake Scenic Area, located to the south of the Sanhe Sluice Water Conservancy Scenic Area, features a 400-acre deep-water lake named for its crescent-like shape. In the first year of the Xianfeng reign (1851), floods breached the dam and carved out a deep pool, which later became enclosed to form the lake. The waters here are clear and pristine, with swaying aquatic plants along the shores. Over 100 acres of wild lotus and water chestnuts lie on the southwestern part of the lake, presenting in midsummer the picturesque scene of “endless emerald lotus leaves reaching up to the sky, and lotus blossoms in the sunlight shining in unique red.”
