Laozi Mountain Liuzui Martyrs' Cemetery is located in Liuzui Village, Laozi Mountain Town, near the western shore of Hongze Lake, primarily commemorating martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the War of Resistance Against Japan.

On January 23, 1944, the Second Company of the Hongze County Brigade attacked Shuotang in Xuyi, capturing over 20 steel-plated boats belonging to the puppet Changhuai Battalion. However, on the way back, they were chased by Japanese motorboats. Due to the suddenness of the attack and outdated equipment, the Second Company suffered heavy losses. All the captured steel-plated boats fell into enemy hands. Dozens of soldiers fought fiercely against the enemy in Hongze Lake, but only four managed to escape with the help of local fishermen. The rest of the officers and soldiers sacrificed their lives heroically. After the battle, local government officials and residents buried the dozens of martyrs in Liuzui Village and placed wooden plaques at each grave, inscribed with the names of the martyrs. After liberation, most of the martyrs' remains were taken back to their hometowns by their relatives—most of them were from Shandong, Henan, Anhui, and other places. Due to the remote location, the passage of time, and exposure to wind and sun, the original wooden plaques had rotted, and the names of the martyrs were lost and could no longer be verified. In 2010, the Laozi Mountain Town government invested 60,000 yuan to build a martyrs' memorial pavilion and monument, and planted 28 pine trees, symbolizing the undying spirit of these 28 martyrs. Among these 28 martyrs, 22 were from the Hongze County Brigade, and the other six were martyred during the Liberation War.

The memorial pavilion is 3.9 meters tall, square-shaped, with sides measuring 2.6 meters. Its roof features traditional Chinese architecture with upturned eaves and is covered with red glazed tiles, giving it an antique charm. Inside the pavilion, there is a black granite memorial stele standing upright, facing south and north, 1.2 meters high. The front of the stele is engraved with a five-pointed star and the words “Eternal Glory to Revolutionary Martyrs,” while the back bears an inscription as a tribute.

Laozi Mountain Town: Located by the sunrise-gold-producing Hongze Lake in Hongze County, Jiangsu Province, Laozi Mountain Town connects the Yangtze and Huai Rivers upstream and links various waterways of Zhejiang and Si downstream. It serves as a vital waterway hub for Jiangsu, Henan, Shandong, and Anhui. The Ning-Su Expressway and the Ning-Lian First-Class Highway run near the town, providing convenient land transportation. The town has eight administrative villages, one neighborhood committee, a population of 15,000, and a total area of 300 square kilometers, with about 90% being tidal flats.
