Former Residence of Zhang Yunyi

A courtyard-style architectural complex, known as the Former Residence Exhibition Hall of Zhang Yunyi, stands about 500 meters north of the memorial hall. The site covers an area of 1,060 square meters. It includes three thatched cottages where Zhang Yunyi once lived, civilian houses used as military headquarters offices, and the exhibition hall built in the 1980s. The exhibition hall displays over 200 precious photos and illustrations from the New Fourth Army period, as well as a large number of artifacts once used by Deputy Commander Zhang and various units such as the military headquarters' administrative, political, logistics departments, medical units, and ordnance facilities. These items vividly recreate the hard-fought struggles of the older generation of proletarian revolutionaries during those tumultuous and war-torn years.

During the critical period of the War of Resistance, the New Fourth Army Headquarters in Huanghuatang directed the surging red tide of resistance across the regions north and south of the Yangtze River. Through arduous struggle, they achieved resounding victories. The New Fourth Army formed an unbreakable bond with the people of Huanghuatang and Xuyi.
