Xuyi County Museum

Xuyi County Museum was established in 1991 and currently houses a collection of over 3,000 items. In 2002, an additional investment of 6 million yuan was made to construct a new building. The new museum features a reinforced concrete frame structure and has been completed and put into use, receiving approximately 300,000 visitors annually.

The entire museum building is divided into two main parts: the western part is the museum, and the eastern part is the library. The museum currently occupies an actual area of 1,200 square meters. The building has four floors — the first floor consists of storage rooms and meeting rooms, including a premium storage room, ceramics storage room, general storage room, processing room, restoration room, and duty room; the second floor houses offices and exhibition halls; the third floor is for exhibitions, and the fourth floor contains offices.

The exhibitions on the second floor of the museum are neatly arranged and open to the public. The displays primarily focus on Han Dynasty culture, and the museum’s precious collections include the “Spring and Autumn Period Wu Kingdom Bronze ?F” and the “Western Han Dynasty Duck-Shaped White Jade Belt Hook.”

The museum currently possesses a collection of over 2,000 items (sets), including 434 national precious cultural relics. It is particularly noted for its Han Dynasty jade artifacts, lacquerware, and bronze ware. Both the total number of cultural relics and the number of precious items rank among the top in county-level museums in Jiangsu Province. From 2007 to 2019, the museum successively hosted special exhibitions such as "Cultural Relics Unearthed in Xuyi – Han Dynasty Relics Exhibition," "Exhibition of Bronze Mirrors Unearthed in Xuyi Through the Ages," "Exhibition of Cultural Relics Unearthed from Dayunshan in Xuyi," "Image Exhibition of the Great Man Zhou Enlai," "Xuyi Museum – Ancient Coins Exhibition," "Xuyi Museum Collection of Ancient Drinking Vessels Exhibition," "Xuyi Museum Collection of Fine Jade Artifacts Exhibition," "Cultural Relics Unearthed in Dongyang Exhibition," "Xuyi Museum – Bronze Ware Exhibition," "Collection of Calligraphy and Paintings Exhibition," and "Preserving Memories – Folk Culture Exhibition of Old Beitou in Xuyi." Starting January 1, 2008, the museum’s exhibition halls have been open to the public free of charge, receiving around 40,000 visitors annually with smooth operations.
