Hongqiao Riverside Park

Hongqiao Riverside Park is located in the area west of No. 2080 Changning Road, Changning District. It borders Shanghai Huacheng (Phase III) to the east, Changning Road to the south, and the Suzhou River to the west and north. Covering an area of approximately 28,000 square meters, the site is shaped like an inverted L, following the flow direction of the Suzhou River. It stretches 210 meters east-west along the river and 240 meters north-south along the river.

The park centers around the unique role and contribution of the Suzhou River in Shanghai’s historical development as its main theme. It is planned to serve both as a space for leisure and social education. Drawing inspiration from Western approaches to riverside living environments, it creates a culturally distinctive urban space for Shanghai, presenting a brand-new riverside park to the public. In line with this theme, the entire park is embraced by the Suzhou River and includes shaded walkways, flower corridors, a large lawn, and a Suzhou River Memorial Hall. Flood prevention pathways and pedestrian walkways are set along the river, and municipal supporting facilities are also planned.
