Red Town Creative Park is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Red Town is located at Huaihai West Road and Kailun Road, repurposed from the former factory buildings of the Shanghai No. 10 Steel Plant. It retains the inherent characteristics of exposed steel structures, red brick facades, and expansive open spaces.

Location Advantages of Red Town

Red Town is situated in the core area at 570–588 Huaihai West Road, integrated with the Shanghai Urban Sculpture Art Center. It neighbors Huaihai West Road and the Xujiahui commercial center to the south, and lies close to the Hongqiao CBD business district and the Xinhua Road Historic Preservation Area to the west. Within a five-minute walk from Line 3 Hongqiao Road Station of the light rail, Red Town enjoys excellent transportation links and a superior location.

Although located in an exceptional downtown spot, Red Town is quieter than the bustling pedestrian shopping streets of Huaihai Middle Road, offering a serene atmosphere shaded by plane trees. Moreover, situated at the junction of Changning, Xuhui, and Jing’an districts, it holds strategic advantages for reaching all three areas.

Architectural Features of Red Town

Red Town was rebuilt from the former rolling mill buildings of the Shanghai No. 10 Steel Plant. Leveraging the robust steel structures of the old industrial buildings, it combines the grand spaces and framework of the factories with modern architectural art. This fusion allows the old and new spaces to interconnect, flow, and transition naturally, establishing Red Town as a comprehensive cultural hub. Centered around the Shanghai Urban Sculpture Art Center, it also includes multi-functional conference areas, large-scale event and art exhibition venues, and flexible creative spaces.

Overall Planning of Red Town

Red Town is divided into three zones: A, B, and C. The total construction area is nearly 20,000 square meters, with over 10,000 square meters dedicated to commercial office space. The park also features a 2,600-square-meter large exhibition hall, a 1,400-square-meter gallery, 2,000 square meters of leisure venues including bars, cafés, and Western restaurants, as well as a 1,000-square-meter workshop area. The public areas and some office sections feature fully transparent glass roofs on the top floors to create a bright, sunlit effect. The heating and insulation systems use energy-efficient, innovative materials from France.
