Hulan Fishing Terrace

The Fishing Terrace is located within the compound of the Fourth Provincial Hospital at No. 1 Nandao Street, Hulan District, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, perched atop the steep bank of the Hulan River. It was built in the 13th year of the Republic of China (1924) by Shi Deshan, the military governor of Suihai. The Fishing Terrace primarily consists of two main structures. One is a brick, stone, and cement slope structure known as the “... [Text appears to be cut off].” Its architectural style is reminiscent of traditional Chinese pavilions. The structure features carvings on its surfaces, with each arch adorned with distinct patterns. The carvings include phrases such as "Praise the Nation," "Sturdy Foundation," and "Virtuous Charm." It was constructed during the warlord era of the Republic of China. Additionally, there is a stone stairway leading up to the terrace, consisting of 15 steps on the northern side. The southern side is equipped with castle-style railings. At the center of the terrace stands a square stone table, measuring 96 cm in both length and width, and 90 cm in height. Surrounding the table are four stone benches. Each side of the table is engraved with inscriptions: the eastern side bears the construction date, “The 13th Year of the Republic of China.” The northern and southern sides are inscribed with phrases such as “Contentment Brings Happiness” and “Patience Brings Peace.” On the exterior of the southern wall, the words “Fishing Terrace” and the construction date “The 13th Year of the Republic of China” are carved.
