Tangwanghe National Park

Tangwanghe National Park is located in Tangwanghe District, Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province, and is the first national park approved in China. The park boasts unique tourism resources, with exceptional advantages in forest and ice-snow landscapes, hosting nearly a thousand species of flora and fauna, and featuring multiple protected areas. There are over 20 rivers within the park, among which the Tangwang River is the largest, stretching 509 kilometers in total length. It is the mother river of Yichun, the Forest Capital of China. From the Indosinian granite stone forest to the rare Tertiary remnant forest ecosystem of the Korean pine virgin forest, from disaster relics and fire-scorched areas to blueberry observation gardens, strawberry picking gardens, the Xiaoxing’anling Botanical Garden, and wetland parks, the park offers incomparably beautiful scenery and naturally-formed wonders.

Characterized by its rare granite stone forest landforms and well-preserved pristine ecology, Tangwanghe National Park features lush vegetation and verdant mountain hues. Strolling along the secluded paths shaded by ancient pines and white birches, you can listen to birdsong, admire the swaying of pine and cypress, breathe in the fragrance of azaleas, and observe the unique rocks of the Greater Khingan Mountains. Here, in this natural oxygen bar, you can leave behind fatigue and worries, entering a realm of returning to simplicity and harmony with nature. Experience the snowy landscape of “a thousand miles frozen, ten thousand miles snow-blown,” and feel the poetic ambiance of “walking in the mountains without rain, yet feeling the lush green dampening your clothes.” Within the park, clouds shroud the mountain ridges, streams meander through valleys, and the air is filled with up to 50,000 negative oxygen ions per cubic centimeter. With an average summer temperature between 18–23°C, it is a cool paradise and a hidden gem — the core of Heilongjiang’s golden tourism zone and the scenic tourism area of the Xiaoxing’anling Mountains’ northern charm. The park attracts a large number of visitors with its unique geology and landforms, beautiful ecological environment, fresh air, ingenious design, and pleasant climate.

The Stone Forest Geological Park, the core scenic area of Tangwanghe National Park, features unique granite stone forests — the only site in China discovered so far that showcases the most complete variety, the most typical development, and the richest formations of Indosinian geological relics. Trees grow on rocks, and rocks stand within forests — an extraordinary sight in nature, with mimicry-shaped stones in countless forms, vividly lifelike, possessing high scientific research and aesthetic value, and are also rare on a global scale. The Stone Forest Scenic Area has been successively approved as a National AAAA-level Tourist Attraction, a National Geological Park, a National Forest Park, and a Scientific Exploration and Adventure Base for Chinese Youth.

Tangwanghe National Park combines unique rocks, forests, ice and snow, peaks, valleys, lakes, and streams, embodying wonder, peril, beauty, and serenity. Visitors can hike, go rafting, fish, explore virgin forests, engage in science education, trace sources, and pick wild vegetables and fruits. It is an ideal destination for scientific exploration, leisure vacations, and sightseeing.
