Scenic Views Along the Border River

The Heilongjiang River is a renowned river in Asia and one of China’s major waterways. Within Jiayin County, it serves as the border river between China and Russia, stretching from the Gegong River estuary in the north to the Jiayin River estuary in the south, with a total length of 249.5 kilometers. The areas on both sides are mainly plains. The Chinese side features relatively developed agriculture, while the Russian side is sparsely populated, with landscapes dominated by trees and shrubs. The width of the river in this section reaches approximately 800–1,000 meters. Along the main navigation route on the Chinese side, there are 28 islands of varying sizes. Most of Jiayin’s tourist attractions are also located along the Heilongjiang River. Its natural scenery, together with cultural elements such as towns, villages, and sentry posts, form a picturesque and poetic landscape.

A border river cruise allows you to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Taiping Gorge, known as the “Little Three Gorges of the Heilongjiang.” This area lies between Jiayin and Mingshan. Here, the Heilongjiang River divides the Greater and Lesser Khingan Mountains, forming three gorges: Longmen Gorge, Jinlong Gorge, and Jinman Gorge. Within Jinlong Gorge, there are three smaller gorges: Longtou Gorge, Longteng Gorge, and Longfeng Gorge, creating a unique spectacle of large gorges enclosing smaller ones, and gorges within gorges. The river is narrow in this section, with towering mountains on both sides facing off across the water. Peaks rise high into the clouds, and the river flows swiftly, with shimmering waves reflecting the mountain shadows. Moreover, the natural ecological environment is well preserved. There is no industrial damage along the river, and few residences can be found. The water is crystal clear, and lush vegetation weaves together to create an extraordinarily magnificent riverscape painting.
