Bai Shantou Medicinal Spring is located in Wuyun Town, Jiayin County, about 120 kilometers from the county seat. The spring outlet faces south and clear spring water continuously flows toward the Heilongjiang River, 100 meters to the east. Locals call it Heilong (Black Dragon) Spring. The water temperature of Heilong Spring remains constant all year round, with a flow rate of 9 tons per hour. In 1999, Li Yongping, a farmer from Wuyun Town, Jiayin County, unfortunately contracted lung cancer. After seeking medical treatment without success, he returned to Jiayin and remembered the legendary healing powers of Heilong Spring. Li went to Bai Shantou in search of the spring. By drinking the pure, sweet spring water and receiving supplementary medical treatment, his condition improved. A year later, when he went back to the hospital for a check-up, the tumor in his lungs had miraculously disappeared. News of the spring’s healing properties spread quickly, and more and more people came to draw water from Heilong Spring or seek recuperation there. In recent years, with the support of the Jiayin County government, Heilong Spring has been extensively developed. Water quality tests and analysis by the provincial geological and mineral bureau confirmed that the spring water contains six beneficial elements for the human body: lithium, metasilicic acid, manganese, vanadium, and strontium. These elements are conducive to metabolism, digestion, blood vessel softening, and increasing lung capacity. In January 2005, construction began on the Bai Shantou Resort, and a mineral water bottling production line was introduced to produce “Longgu Mountain Spring” mineral water. The 30,000 bottles of mineral water produced daily are in high demand in the market.
