Gongqing Farm

On the plains of Gongqing Farm. It borders Luobei County to the east and overlooks Hegang City to the west, located just 60 kilometers from Hegang. In 1951, Yang Hua and a large group of aspiring youths from Beijing, Tianjin, Shandong, Hebei, and Harbin responded to the call of the Communist Youth League Central Committee and came here to reclaim land, establish careers, and build homes. Over fifty years and through the hard work of three generations, the pioneering spirit of the Great Northern Wilderness was upheld, transforming Gongqing Farm into a thriving agricultural town with a population of 20,000. What was once the Great Northern Wilderness is now the Great Northern Granary. The farm currently has 440,000 acres of arable land, 74,000 acres of forest, and 33,000 acres of water area. It produces 130,000 tons of wheat, soybeans, corn, and rice annually, along with nearly 10,000 tons of miscellaneous grains such as red beans and kidney beans. The livestock industry, focusing on “two types of cattle and one type of pig,” has also become another key economic sector. The farm enjoys a strategic location with convenient transportation, situated within 30 kilometers of the Mishan Port—a major hub for trade with Russia—and a railway freight station. Gongqing Farm has now become a leading agritourism destination in Hegang City.
