Empress Dowager Cixi’s Temporary Palace — Located on the west side of Taipinggou, it was constructed based on legend. It is said that when the local government office heard that Empress Dowager Cixi was coming to escape the summer heat, they hired a master designer at great expense to plan the palace. The design was grand in scale and majestic in appearance, and funds from the imperial treasury were used to purchase materials for its construction. However, as the Empress Dowager never made the trip, the construction was never started.
