Anti-Japanese Resistance Stone (Provincial Cultural Relic) – The Anti-Japanese Resistance Stone is an important attraction in the Taipinggou Scenic Area. It was here that Wang Mingxian, a patriotic local of Taipinggou, upon hearing the news of the September 18th Incident, was overcome with grief at seeing vast tracts of the nation’s territory fall. Filled with deep sorrow for his country and hatred for the invaders, he could not sleep that night. Carrying a lantern, he made his way to the riverbank, where he used a steel chisel to carve fourteen characters onto the largest rock: “This stone may decay, but the hatred for the Japanese invaders must never be forgotten. September 18th.” He did this as a warning to future generations never to forget the national humiliation.
