Longwan West Lake is a typical volcanic barrier lake, formed over multiple volcanic eruptions when lava blocked the river, creating a high-altitude barrier lake. It is renowned for its unspoiled natural beauty and majestic, mysterious landscape. The lake features a lava-bottomed bed with rugged rocks along its shores, and its waters are crystal clear and azure blue.

A tremendous event occurred two million years ago—volcanic eruptions. Volcanic ejecta were carried high into the air by the force of the blast and subsequently fell to the ground under the influence of wind and gravity, forming layers of deposits. These various ejecta layers display parallel bedding and vivid colors, sparking the imagination. It's as if the event from two million years ago unfolded right before your eyes.
