Sandao Laoyefu Wetland

The Sandao Laoyefu Wetland was formed due to the accumulation and blockage caused by volcanic debris, ash, and lahars, which raised the groundwater level upstream to near the surface and hindered surface water flow. The wetland not only serves as a water conservation body but also has filtering and purifying functions, hence people call the wetland the “kidney” of the Earth. The Sandao Laoyefu Wetland is covered with dense forests, grasses, and reeds, shrouded in mist. Rare birds and animals roam among the thickets. Visitors entering the wetland may easily sink into the mud if not careful, which can be quite frightening.
