Dalian Xijiao National Forest Park is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a national forest park.

Dalian Xijiao National Forest Park is located in the western suburbs of Dalian, under the jurisdiction of Hongqi Subdistrict, Ganjingzi District, Dalian. Covering an area of nearly 70 square kilometers, it is the most well-preserved mountain forest reserve in terms of vegetation and the richest in water systems in the suburbs of Dalian. It also serves as a "green lung" and a "natural oxygen bar" for the city. The entire scenic area boasts “mountains linked by valleys, abundant fruits and beautiful forests, secluded paths and long waters, and ever-changing seasons.” It is rich in both rustic charm and vibrant modern elements. Here, you can walk along streams, listen to the rustling of forests, hear birds singing, smell the fragrance of flowers, pick fruits, and experience local folklore... Everywhere is filled with a refreshing aroma that makes visitors linger.

The forest park began construction in 2005 and was included in Dalian’s key projects in 2006, as well as in the city’s 11th Five-Year Development Plan. Following the concept of “demolishing more and building less, not rebuilding after demolition, restoring ecology, conserving water sources, building an urban green lung, and an ecological oxygen bar,” the park was planned with the vision of “roads within greenery, parks within woods, and houses within parks.” Efforts were made to relocate and integrate areas, carry out landscaping, manage water bodies, and develop supporting infrastructure. By 2009, a total of 3.2 billion RMB had been invested, leading to the development of attractions such as Chengyuan Hot Spring Villa, Hiking Exploration Corridor, Chaoyang Temple, Waterscape Flower Street, Jade Buddha Temple, and Golden Willow Scenic Area. A variety of tourism projects were also launched, including the International Mountain Running Race in the Xicheng International Tourism and Business District, Xijiao Cherry Festival, Xijiao Hiking Festival, Xijiao Double Ninth Mountaineering Festival, golf tournaments, and agritainment experiences, making it a new highlight in Dalian’s tourism development.

Mountain climbing and fitness activities provide visitors with spaces for exercise and forest wellness; the business leisure area, with its tranquil environment of “real mountains, real waters, and real air,” caters to the leisure, wellness, business negotiations, and conference needs of business travelers. The sightseeing agriculture area offers opportunities to taste green farm produce. The park is divided into seven functional zones: Cultural Leisure Zone, Wellness & Sports Zone, Business Leisure Zone, Sightseeing Agriculture Zone, Fashion Sports Zone, Forest Camping Zone, and Ecological Control Zone.

Among them, the Cultural Leisure Zone focuses on hot spring culture, science education culture, and religious culture, offering visitors a colorful cultural experience; the Wellness & Sports Zone mainly features hiking, gourmet food, appreciation of pastoral scenery, and participation in farming activities, providing an in-depth experience of “agritainment”; the Fashion Sports Zone centers around trendy mountain sports, developing various fashionable sporting activities; the Forest Camping Zone emphasizes experiencing the wild charm of the forest, offering forest camping and outdoor adventure training; the Ecological Control Zone is primarily dedicated to protecting the scenic area’s ecological environment while moderately developing various types of eco-tourism.
