Yingchengzi Folk Culture Village

Situated in the center of Yingchengzi Town, 20 kilometers west of Dalian City in Ganjingzi District, it was constructed on the site of the Tang Dynasty Yongxing Temple. The complex includes fifteen ancient buildings with a total area of 2,300 square meters, highlighting the area’s 6,000-year history and vibrant, traditional folk customs. A male ginkgo tree in the museum reaches 28.9 meters in height, with a diameter of 1.95 meters and an age of 1,300 years, known as the “King of Trees in Northeast China.” The Yingchengzi Han Tombs are Eastern Han Dynasty brick-painted mural tombs.

Dalian Yingchengzi Folk Culture Village was collectively invested in and established by Dalian Xincheng Industrial Corporation. It enjoys a prime location and convenient transportation, situated along the midsection of the Dalian-Lushun North Road, 25 kilometers from the city center and 12 kilometers from Zhoushuizi Airport. Since its approval by the municipal government in 1994, efforts have been made to restore the municipal-level key cultural relic protection unit — the over 1,300-year-old Tang Dynasty Yongxing Temple. After ten years of gradual development, the village now features two main scenic areas in its first phase of construction: Yongxing Temple and the Folk Museum.

The peak tourist season in Dalian runs from the Locust Flower Festival and Export Commodities Fair in late May to the International Fashion Festival in early September. During this period, Dalian is practically overrun with visitors. For the rest of the year after September, the seawater cools, the crowds thin, but Dalian’s beauty doesn’t fade with the weather or the number of tourists. When the visitors leave, the fish return, making September and October ideal for seaside fishing. When it gets even colder, the Bingyu Valley Ice Lantern Festival begins, or you can visit the hunting grounds at Golden Pebble Beach — both are great off-season activities in Dalian.
