Xiuyan Baoquan Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Baoquan Temple is located in Yangheyan Village, Xinglong Subdistrict Office, about 3.5 kilometers north of Xiuyan Town. Nestled in a mountain hollow on Xinglong Mountain, it sits against green hills to the north and faces the Dayang River, boasting picturesque and enchanting scenery.

The original temple was built in 1835, the 15th year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty, through funding raised by over 40 local leaders. In front of the lower courtyard of the temple there is a spring pool with abundant water flow, crystal-clear and sweet-tasting water. Testing has shown that it contains various essential elements needed by the human body, making it a rare treasure spring—hence the temple’s name “Baoquan” (Treasure Spring). Originally, the temple only had one main hall dedicated to the Jade Emperor, so it was commonly known as the “Jade Emperor Temple.” Later, other structures were added, including the Mahavira Hall, Lingxiao Treasure Hall, Thousand-Hand-Thousand-Eye Buddha Hall, Maitreya Buddha Hall, and Sutra Recital Hall. The county Buddhist association is located within the temple. Every year on the 18th day of the fourth lunar month, the temple holds a temple fair that attracts large numbers of monks, nuns, devotees, and tourists. Monks and nuns from Hong Kong and Taiwan also frequently visit. Baoquan Temple has become a popular tourist destination in Xiuyan County.
