Booking & Visiting Advice
- All park entry fees and activities should be booked through the Uganda Wildlife Authority or licensed safari operators. Avoid purchasing permits through unofficial social media channels, as counterfeit and fraudulent tickets are common.
- Gorilla trekking group assignments are based on fitness levels. Be honest about your physical condition when registering. Bring water, lunch, and a rain jacket. Porter services for muddy sections can be hired for an additional fee.
- Birdwatchers should bring a lens of at least 400 mm and a local bird guidebook. The Rwenzori foothills and Mgahinga are two top birding spots.
- Ferry schedules to the Ssese Islands are weather-dependent. Allow an extra day for flexibility on the return trip.
