Itinerary Overview

Days 1–2: Vancouver → Days 3–5: Banff and Lake Louise → Day 6: Toronto → Day 7: Niagara Falls → Day 8: Depart from Toronto. Flight from Vancouver to Calgary takes about 1.5 hours; driving time between Toronto and Niagara Falls is around 1.5 hours.

Days 1–2: Vancouver — A City Between Mountains and Sea

  • Day 1: Arrive at YVR → Stanley Park loop → Steam Clock in Gastown → Canada Place.
  • Day 2: Capilano Suspension Bridge Park → Granville Island Public Market → Watch the sunset at English Bay.

Days 3–5: Rocky Mountains — Banff and Lake Louise

  • Day 3: Fly to Calgary → Enter Banff via Highway 1 → Visit Banff Upper Hot Springs or Bow Falls → Stay overnight in Banff town.
  • Day 4: Moraine Lake → Boat ride on Lake Louise → Drive north along Icefields Parkway → Columbia Icefield Glacier Adventure and Skywalk.
  • Day 5: Lake Minnewanka cruise or sunrise at Vermilion Lakes → Return to Calgary → Evening flight to Toronto.

Days 6–8: East Coast — Waterfalls and Cities

  • Day 6: CN Tower in Toronto → St. Lawrence Market → Distillery District → Lakeside walk. In the evening, you can go up the tower to watch the sunset over Lake Ontario.
  • Day 7: Take a chartered bus or public bus to Niagara Falls → Maid of the Mist boat tour → Lunch at Skylon Tower with views of the Horseshoe Falls → Return to Toronto in the evening (stay longer in the evening during the illumination season).
  • Day 8: Shopping at Kensington Market or an outlet mall → Depart from Pearson Airport.

Tips

  • Icefields Parkway (Highway 93) is one of the most beautiful roads in the world. If driving, set aside a full day for photos.
  • The Maid of the Mist boat tour on the Canadian side operates year-round, with red insulated coveralls provided in winter.
  • Hotels in Banff town are limited; you can also stay in Canmore, where prices are about 20% lower.
  • Purchase the Parks Canada Discovery Pass to cover entry fees for all national parks including Banff and Jasper.
