Itineraries 2026-10-03 0 views 6 Days
Island, Maya, and caves all in one trip: start with Caribbean snorkeling, venture into rainforest ruins and underground rivers, and end with a flight over the Great Blue Hole.

Itinerary Overview

D1-D2 Ambergris Caye → D3-D4 Maya Sites and Waterfalls in the Cayo District → D5 Cave Tubing or ATM Cave Adventure → D6 Sightseeing Flight over the Great Blue Hole before Departure. The trip progresses using a dual-base approach (island + inland), with connections via water taxis and 15-minute domestic flights.

D1-D2 San Pedro: Caribbean Snorkeling

  • D1: Arrive in Belize City → Take a water taxi (~1.5 hours) to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye → Explore the island by golf cart, watch the sunset at the pier in the evening.
  • D2: Half-day snorkeling at Hol Chan Marine Reserve: swim with nurse sharks and stingrays in Shark Ray Alley → Relax on Caye Caulker Beach in the afternoon, enjoy fry jacks at the street night market in the evening.

D3 Transfer to the Cayo District

Return to Belize City by small plane or water taxi, then transfer to San Ignacio and check into a rainforest lodge: explore the town market in the evening, try local stewed chicken with rice and beans, and get an early night for the next day’s adventure.

D4 Day Trip to Caracol

Join a 4x4 tour into the Chiquibul Rainforest: climb the Caana Pyramid, the tallest man-made structure in Belize, for views over the jungle near the Guatemalan border → After lunch, swim in the pools at Rio On Pools → Optional visit to the Mountain Pine Ridge forest area.

D5 Xunantunich + Cave Experience

Take a hand-cranked ferry across the Mopan River in the early morning, then climb El Castillo Temple at Xunantunich to see intricate stucco friezes → In the afternoon, choose between cave tubing (floating down an underground river through a cavern with stalactites) or signing up for the next day’s ATM Cave adventure for outdoor enthusiasts.

D6 Great Blue Hole + Departure

Take an early sightseeing flight from San Pedro or Belize City (approx. 1–1.5 hours) to aerial-view the Great Blue Hole and Half Moon Caye Atoll → Depending on your flight time in the afternoon, head to the international airport for departure.
