The Segin Tana Art Museum was invested in and built by Ms. Segin Tana, a Mongolian collector, and designed by the renowned architect Mr. Zhang Pengju. From design to completion, it took two years and opened to the public in July 2012. Located on Binhe East Road in the Ruyi Development Zone of Hohhot, the museum covers an area of 18 acres and has a three-story frame structure, with a total construction area of 9,600 square meters. It is the first private museum in Hohhot and also a key cultural project in the city. The museum features distinct ethnic characteristics, focusing on grassland culture and ancient and modern Chinese historical culture. It primarily hosts exhibitions of its collection of artifacts and modern paintings and calligraphy, as well as research activities, specialized academic conferences, and cultural exchanges in related fields.

The Segin Tana Art Museum covers an area of 18 acres, has a three-story frame structure, and a construction area of 9,600 square meters. It includes nine sections: exhibition display area, collection storage area, cultural relics technical area, art research department, education department, and others.

The exhibition display area showcases a large number of artworks with significant artistic value and influence, including traditional Chinese paintings, contemporary Chinese oil paintings, Tibetan thangka art, and murals from China’s Liao Dynasty.

The traditional Chinese painting exhibition is divided into three parts: “Ancient Chinese Paintings,” “Modern Chinese Paintings,” and “Contemporary Chinese Paintings,” providing a detailed display of the heritage and development of Chinese painting. The contemporary Chinese oil painting section features works created by outstanding Mongolian painters, set against the backdrop of grassland culture, which have attracted considerable attention from visitors. The murals from China’s Liao Dynasty, depicting the lifestyle of nomadic peoples, further allow visitors to experience the rich ethnic characteristics of the grassland people.

The museum has distinct ethnic characteristics, focusing on grassland culture and ancient and modern Chinese historical culture. It primarily hosts exhibitions of its collection of artifacts and modern paintings and calligraphy, as well as research activities, specialized academic conferences, and cultural exchanges in related fields. As a modern cultural facility, the museum is not limited to the collection, preservation, and display of items such as Liao Dynasty artifacts, modern paintings, Chinese oil paintings, and cultural relics. It also provides “support” services for professional academic personnel in learning, investigation, and research, and can serve as a public space for individuals or groups to learn, deepen research, and engage in academic discussions and exchanges.

1. The basic permanent exhibitions of the Segin Tana Museum are open to the public free of charge.

2. Opening Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00–17:00 (closed on weekends).

3. Free admission; visitors need to register, and tickets are not required (office areas are off-limits to visitors).
