Lechang Wenfeng Pagoda

Lechang Wenfeng Pagoda is a cultural relic protection unit of Lechang City.

Lechang Wenfeng Pagoda is located on Tagang Ridge in Lecheng Town, Lechang City. Originally built during the Song Dynasty and destroyed in the Yuan Dynasty, it was initially a brick pagoda. In the 18th year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1539), Fu Xi, the prefect of Shaoguan, rebuilt it using stone. It is an octagonal, seven-story pavilion-style stone pagoda, approximately 19 meters high, with upturned eaves and decorative stone-carved zoomorphic ornaments. The first floor has sides each 2.4 meters long and walls 2.1 meters thick. Arched gates are installed on the first to third floors, while no doors or windows are opened on the fourth floor and above—only niches are carved into the pagoda walls. The niche lintel on the fourth floor is carved with a statue of a child. The pagoda spire is made of stone and shaped like a gourd. In 1987, the Lechang County People’s Government designated it as a cultural relic protection unit.

Lecheng Subdistrict: The Lecheng Subdistrict Office was established on July 28, 2003, by the Lechang Municipal Government through the merger of the former Lecheng and Henan towns, becoming Lechang City’s first subdistrict office. As an agency of the municipal government, it is located in downtown Lechang—the political, economic, and cultural center of Lechang City and also the site of the municipal government. The subdistrict administers 11 community resident committees, 1 residential management area, and 16 village committees. The total area of the subdistrict is 187.74 square kilometers, with a population of 127,000.
