Qinglian Mountain Forest Park

Qinglian Mountain is a sacred and mystical mountain. During the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, it was known as one of the Three Famous Mountains of Southern Guangdong (Ruyi’s Qinglian, Ren’s Danxia, and Hui’s Luofu). It is located at the border between Hongyun in Daqiao, Ruyuan, and Yunyan in Lechang, northern Guangdong’s mountainous region. Originally under the jurisdiction of Ruyuan County, it was later returned to Yunyan in Lechang. With an elevation of over 700 meters, it lies about ten li from Hongyun in Daqiao, Ruyuan. Originally called Tianmen Peak, during the late Chongzhen era, Li Bingzhong, Vice Censor-in-Chief of Southern Jiangxi, retired and secluded himself on this mountain. He personally oversaw the expansion of the Buddhist temple. Out of admiration for the Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai, he named the mountain “Qinglian” after Li Bai’s courtesy name. Today, Qinglian Mountain has been developed into a forest park. Climbing Qinglian Mountain to view the sea of clouds and sunset offers a uniquely beautiful experience.
