The Reclining Buddha Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

The scenic area is located 4 km east of Zhuozi County, bordered to the north by National Highway 110, the Beijing-Baotou Railway, and the Dahei River, with the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Expressway and high-speed railway passing through the mountains. To the west, it connects to the Wuyao Ancient City, and to the south, it links with the Liangshan Dashiyuan. It is a natural mountain that, when viewed from afar, strikingly resembles a colossal statue of Sakyamuni Buddha, with its head resting on the Heihe River and feet on Liangshan Mountain. Its facial features and outline are clear. Legend has it that this was formed when Sakyamuni took a brief rest here while establishing a sacred site and preaching the Dharma, hence the name Reclining Buddha Mountain. Historically, the area was home to numerous temples bustling with incense offerings, as evidenced by the “Stone Figures” (carved in four scripts) at Shiren Bay. The natural scenery of Reclining Buddha Mountain is picturesque, with uniquely shaped landforms—a masterpiece of nature that has naturally created more than 10 scenic spots such as the Divine Turtle Stone and Immortal’s Cave. The region boasts abundant flora and fauna, along with many legends and unearthed cultural relics. In 1998, it was developed solely with investment from Taiwanese businesspeople.
