Zhuozi Pingdingshan

Pingdingshan is situated between Lihua Town and Taiping Village in Qixia Town, Zhuozi County. To the south, it borders the Beijing–Baotou Expressway, National Highway 110, the Dahei River, and the Beijing–Baotou Railway. To the east, it connects to the ancient Wuyao City and Dahei Mountain, while to the west, it adjoins Qixia Ying, a key commercial town, and faces Dujin Mountain across the river. To the north, it leans against the Xiahei River, Fuxingtan, and the Beijing–Xinjiang Expressway (G7). The area boasts a unique location and convenient transportation. The mountain features an unusual shape, rising abruptly from the flatlands. With a height of 480 meters, it stretches 10 kilometers from east to west at the summit and 1 kilometer from north to south, resembling an upside-down “ingot” lying horizontally. The mountaintop is a vast, flat plain with fertile soil and abundant rare flowers and plants. The southern slope features steep cliffs, as if shaped by supernatural craftsmanship, while the northern slope is covered with lush trees and enjoys a sound ecological environment. The summit is home to quaint, scattered primitive villages, with stone cave dwellings, stone mills, stone grinders, and well pulleys from the Republican era telling stories of bygone days—visiting feels like stepping back into ancient times. Numerous legends are also associated with the area, such as those of Embroidered Flower Peak, Lugou Flat, Fox Fairy Temple, and the Six Merchants. The region was once famous for its high-quality, large-grain tea-colored buckwheat, which was exported as far as South Korea and Japan.
