Bournemouth Oceanarium is located on the Bournemouth seafront, right opposite Bournemouth Pier. It is a dazzling marine palace featuring many themed zones that showcase marine life from around the world, creating underwater kingdoms such as the Great Barrier Reef, the Amazon River, or the deep sea.

In addition to a wide range of marine creatures, Bournemouth Oceanarium also offers related TV documentaries, lectures, feeding demonstrations, and more. It features the world’s first interactive diving cage, where visitors can enjoy a 270-degree virtual seascape and get up close to computer-generated marine life—including dolphins, manta rays, and sharks—through interactive touch technology. In 2008, it launched the “Global Meltdown” project, which takes visitors to a future where sea levels have risen and tropical fish and sharks swim through the streets of London, aiming to explore the potential impacts of global warming. There are also fearsome piranhas for kids, an underwater tunnel allowing close-up views of sharks, turtles, stingrays, and highlights including shovel-nose guitarfish and giant sea turtles.
