Introduction The area enclosed by Charlotte St, Portland St, Oxford St, and Mosley St is Manchester’s Chinatown, the largest in the UK and also the most concentrated Chinese community in northern England. It is home to many small shops selling Chinese ornaments. In addition, there are numerous Chinese restaurants throughout Chinatown, though they can be quite pricey.

Chinatown is dotted with small supermarkets run by Chinese people, so you won’t have to worry about not finding Chinese seasonings and food here. All the products are genuinely imported from China, including starch, soy sauce, kitchen knives, steamers, and many other uniquely Chinese goods that can be found here. Many international students living in towns around Manchester often come here for their shopping. The lion dance performances during Chinese New Year are an annual highlight in Manchester.
