Manchester Art Gallery is located on Mosley Street in Manchester. Opened in 1824, it is one of the city's most renowned private art museums and among its most popular, having become a haven for art in Manchester.

Manchester Art Gallery occupies three buildings, the oldest of which was designed by the celebrated English architect Charles Barry and has been designated as a Grade I listed building in the UK. The museum’s collection is diverse, divided into three main sections: fine art, decorative art, and costume. The fine art collection includes over 13,000 works such as oil paintings, drawings, prints, watercolours, postcards, newspapers, and photographs. Among these, the most famous are the world-renowned Pre-Raphaelite paintings. Additionally, British and European art from the 17th century to the present day also receives considerable attention. The decorative art collection contains around 13,000 items, ranging from crafts to design pieces, including pottery, glassware, furniture, ironwork, and wallpaper. Highlights include early British glazed pottery and 17th-century silverware. The costume collection boasts over 21,000 items, covering various types of clothing and accessories from 1600 to the present, with standout pieces being the dresses and attire for women and children from the 18th and 19th centuries.
