Stockport is a city in Greater Manchester, England, located southeast of Manchester city center. It was first recorded in historical records in 1170. The city is known as the "home of hats," as the first hat factory in Britain was established here. At that time, the hat-making industry was the city’s main industry, with nearly half of the population engaged in hat-related work.

The landmark building of Stockport is Stockport Town Hall, designed by architect Alfred Brumwell Thomas. Inside is a ballroom designed by John Betjeman, housing the largest Wurlitzer theatre organ in Britain. Vernon Park is the city’s main park, opened in 1858, and its tranquil environment and elegant atmosphere are captivating. The most famous museum here is the Hat Works, the only museum in Britain dedicated entirely to hats. It showcases how hats were made using traditional craftsmanship and introduces Britain’s "hat culture." Other notable attractions include the War Memorial Art Gallery, Stockport Viaduct, and St Elizabeth's Church.
