Albarracín

Albarracín is a municipality in the province of Teruel, in the autonomous community of Aragon, Spain. It is also the capital of the mountainous region of Sierra de Albarracín. The town is a picturesque settlement surrounded by small hills.

First-time visitors to Albarracín are often amazed to find this well-preserved Spanish village encircled by its defensive walls and surrounded by seemingly barren hills. At the highest point of the ramparts stands the famous Andador Tower, built in the 10th century, from which you can enjoy panoramic views of the town, the remnants of the old walls, and the site of the former castle. Nearby is the White Tower (Torre de Doña Blanca), now converted into an exhibition hall showcasing local artworks. Along the rugged cliffside paths and narrow alleys, you’ll also find towering churches, quaint castles, the spacious Plaza Mayor, and the town hall, which offers lovely views of the Turia River. The Albarracín Town Museum is also not to be missed, featuring fragments of locally excavated pottery and precious tapestries.
