Salamanca is located in the autonomous community of Castile and León in northwestern Spain and is the capital of the Province of Salamanca. The old town of Salamanca was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988. It is a well-known university city in Spain, with the most famous being the University of Salamanca, which attracts students from all over the world.

Salamanca is one of the famous inland tourist destinations in Spain, situated in the southwesternmost part of the Castile and León autonomous community, within the Central Mountain System. It is a beautiful city rich in tourism resources, known for its ancient humanistic traditions and abundant historical and artistic heritage. This historic city boasts the Plaza Mayor, one of the most magnificent and largest squares in Spain, and an example of Baroque urban and semi-plateresque architecture. Unamuno referred to it as “the heart full of sun and air.” There are also many grand buildings and historical relics worth visiting, such as the Old Cathedral of Salamanca built in 1140, the New Cathedral of Salamanca from 1513, the Neoclassical Ángelican College, the Clavero Tower, the House of Shells, the Convent of San Esteban, and more.
